Accounting Coordinator — Vineyard & Winery
Innovations Hospitality Search is conducting a confidential search for an Accounting Coordinator to support an established vineyard and winery organization in Santa Barbara County. This hybrid role focuses on fixed assets, capital expenditures, construction in progress, reconciliations, journal entries and month-end close while partnering with accounting, vineyard, winery, facilities, technology and hospitality teams.

The opportunity
- Review, process and record fixed assets for vineyard, winery, production, tasting-room, office and hospitality operations.
- Apply capitalization policies when reviewing invoices, purchase orders, contracts and construction documentation.
- Record asset acquisitions, transfers, reclassifications, additions, disposals and retirements.
- Monitor construction-in-progress balances and place completed projects into service accurately and on time.
- Track capital projects involving vineyard infrastructure, winery equipment, facilities, technology and property improvements.
- Prepare journal entries related to depreciation, retirements, accruals and other fixed-asset activity.
- Record accruals for unmatched purchase orders and invoices involving assets already placed into service.
- Review depreciation reports and investigate unexpected variances.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations for fixed assets, accumulated depreciation and construction in progress.
- Reconcile fixed-asset subledger activity to the general ledger and correct classification or timing errors.
- Coordinate with vineyard operations, winemaking, production, facilities, purchasing, finance and technology teams.
- Support physical asset inventories, year-end close, audits and financial-reporting requests.
- Maintain fixed-asset policies, capitalization guidelines, checklists and process documentation.
- Assist with training team members on fixed-asset and month-end procedures.
- Support process-improvement initiatives, system changes and special accounting projects.
What the role requires
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field.
- At least three years of professional accounting experience.
- Experience with fixed assets, capital expenditures, depreciation, construction in progress or general-ledger accounting is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, journal entries and month-end close procedures.
- Ability to understand the relationship between balance-sheet and income-statement accounts.
- Experience reviewing invoices, purchase orders, contracts and supporting financial documentation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup formulas.
- Experience with an ERP, fixed-asset platform or comparable accounting and reporting system.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization, accuracy, time management and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize a high-volume workload and meet month-end deadlines with limited supervision.
- Winery, vineyard, agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality or multi-location accounting experience is preferred.
